Harbor Heroes Awards Ceremony and Dinner

Harbor Heroes offers a time for community togetherness.

Harbor Heroes, in its seventeenth year, is a night of celebration honoring exceptional individuals and businesses that have contributed greatly to the community. The dinner is also a special way to say "THANK YOU" to the numerous boards, committees and individuals who work behind the scenes to assure outstanding success in all our Chamber events. The awards for the 2011 Emmet County Entrepreneur of the Year, the 2011 Area Beautification and Architectural Excellence Award, and The 2011 Char-Em Culinary Arts Program Scholarship Recipients will also be presented again at this event.

This event is open to the public and everyone in the community is encouraged to participate and to attend. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Chamber Office on Main Street in Harbor Springs, over the phone at (231) 526-7999 or via email.

This year’s categories are as follows:
 
Outstanding Citizen Award, Presented by North Central Michigan College
Recognizing an individual for their lifelong contribution of time, talent and resources for the betterment of the greater Harbor Springs area. 2010 winner: Michael Esposito.
 
Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award, Sponsored by 1st Community Bank
Presented to a member of the HSACC who has dedicated time and energy to the successful development of chamber events, programs and/or activities. 2010 winner: Margaret Bowers.
 
Harbor Springs Ambassador Award,  Sponsored by Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce 
Given to a person who has a genuine fondness for the greater Harbor Springs area and who shares that fondness through enthusiasm and service that enhances the community and inspires others to do the same. 2010 winner: Danna Widmar.
 
The “I Can Do That” Community Service Award, Sponsored by Northwestern Bank
Honoring an individual (or group) who has contributed time and energy to various causes and made a lasting impression on the community. 2010 winner: Currie Weed.
 
President’s Award Individual and/or President’s Award Business, Sponsored by Northern Michigan Regional Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Respectively  
This is a dual award given to both an individual and a business that have contributed time and resources to help fulfill the mission of the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce. 2010 winners: Individual: Gregg Garver. Business: Northwestern Bank.

Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Sponsored by The Bank of Northern Michigan
Coordinated by the Entrepreneur Club of Emmet County, this award honors an entrepreneur who is helping to enhance the local economy through business growth. 2010 winner: Jimmy Spencer and Pond Hill Farm.

Area Beautification and Architectural Excellence Award, Sponsored byInsurance by Burley
Presented to an area business that has helped increase the architectural beauty and excellence of our communities through, new construction, unique design elements, or superior remodeling of an existing structure. 2010 winners: Harbor-Petoskey Area Airport Authority.
 
The HSACC Harbor Heroes Dinner is an outstanding event that allows community participation in recognizing deserving individuals and businesses who have truly made a difference.
