Placemaking Program

Placemaking is taking stock of a community’s strengths and aspirations to transform itself into a place that people want to come—to both visit and live—and stay. Harbor Springs has always been a great region. The Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce’s Placemaking Committee is studying and exploring options to make Harbor Springs an even greater place.
Throughout this year, the residents and community leaders of the Harbor Springs met with various experts in the Placemaking discipline, Ann Chastain, Jan Kellogg, and Fred Kent to learn about Harbor Springs’ options for developing a strategic plan for making this area the best it can be.
Armed with this new idea, the Harbor Springs Placemaking Committee has teamed up with other Harbor Springs organizations to facilitate projects to make Harbor Springs the best community that it can be.
