Harbor Springs is privileged to join the ranks of famed sailing communities such as Chicago, Galveston, Seattle, Boston, and San Francisco with the Star Class 2008 North American Championship Regatta. The Regatta is scheduled for September 8-12, 2008 on Little Traverse Bay and is being hosted by the Little Traverse Yacht Club and Irish Boat Shop. The North American Championship Regatta began in 1939 and continues this year in Harbor Springs spotlighting what many say is the most prolific keelboat in the world. The Star is the oldest Olympic class, having first been used in competition in 1932 and still at the heart of that competition currently in Qingdao, China at the 2008 summer games.
