Mackinac Island will present their Labor Day Jazz Weekend starting Friday, Aug. 29 and going until Tuesday, Sept. 2 at The Grand Hotel.
Although there will be jazz played pretty much nonstop throughout the weekend, the key events are the daytime concerts in the Tea Garden. Gates for these concerts open at noon on Saturday and Sunday.
There will be opening acts, both days followed by Branford Marsalis playing at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Dave Brubeck at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31. There will also be evening concerts featuring Bob Seeley, Bob Baldori and Diane Shurr.
Prices are free for the evening concerts, however there is a dress code, jacket and tie for gentlemen. The daytime concerts are $75 per person to attend and that includes lunch, gratuity and the show. Tickets are available at the gate and at the hotel, they do not have to be purchased in advance.
