Five people have declared themselves as write-in candidates for two open seats on the City Council. While no names will appear on the November 2nd ballot, there are two blank spaces for voters to fill in up to two candidates under the Harbor Springs City Council header. In order for a vote to count, the candidate that is written in must have filed a declaration of intent to run with the City Clerk no later than 4 p.m. Friday, October 22.
Currently, incumbents John Cupps Jr. and John Lio have filed to be qualified write-in candidates. City residents Matt Summers, Maggie Lacy, and Fred Simons have also filed.
