Finance Director
Posted: 08/23/2023Position description: The Finance Director is responsible for the fiscal operations of the organization, including accounting and financial management, grant and contract management and administrative operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; at least five years of experience with a non-profit organization (preferred) or business that includes finance and office management
Knowledge of various software applications - Microsoft Office, accounting (SAGE preferred) and CRM (Monday.com preferred)
Experience in general ledger management, budgeting, monthly financial reporting, payroll, financial statement preparation and annual financial audit coordination.

Primary Job Functions:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Finance Director is responsible for the following areas:
Accounting and Financial Management
Maintain the general ledger, including processing of accounts receivable, cash receipts and accounts payable
Work with outside payroll processing company on preparation of semi-monthly payroll
Monthly reconciliation of investment accounts
Assist the Executive Director in preparation of the annual organization budget
Monitoring actual results vs. budget on an ongoing basis
Prepare monthly financial statements for the Executive Director and Finance Committee
Assist the Development Director in tracking and monitoring of membership and other donations
Attendance at Finance and Board of Director meetings, as requested
Work with CPA firm to coordinate annual financial audit and tax return preparation
Grant and Contract Management
Ensure that contract billing and grant reimbursement reports are prepared on a timely basis
Monitor grant spending in accordance with budgets
Monitor time tracking for grants and contracts
Advise and review budget development for proposals
Administrative Operations
Supervise the Office Manager in performance of duties
Maintain insurance and review insurance policies
Manage the organization’s employee benefit program, including health insurance and 403 (b) retirement plan
Oversee the organization’s technology needs
Work location
Position requires on-site work at our Petoskey, MI office.
Salary and Benefits
Annual salary range: $65,000 to $75,000
Benefits package: Paid health, disability and life insurance; Health Savings Account contribution; 403(b) retirement plan; paid sick and vacation
