Eric Hemenway, the Director of Repatriation, Archives and Records for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, will be giving a lecture titled "Art Without Boundaries: The Story Behind Waganaksing Odawa Art in Vienna, Austria" at the Harbor Springs Library on Monday, November 14th at 5:30pm. Eric's primary work includes gathering historical information, as well as historical projects that include signs, web content, publications, curriculum, and repatriation claims. He lectures locally and nationally on Odawa and Great Lakes native history. Eric recently returned from Vienna, where he was invited to view an extensive collection of Odawa artifacts on display in the Welt Museum Wien. In the early 1800s, dozens of unique pieces of art created by Odawa in Harbor Springs and Cross Village made their way to Vienna. Come hear the story of these pieces and how they are still telling the story of the Waganaksing Odawa across the world. Seating will be limited.
