Aspects of America, opening concert of the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra’s ’22 – ’23 season, will be held at 7 pm on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor. The journey through the history of American classical music features composers from the late 1900s to present day. Featured is the 2022 Charles F. Davis Young Artist Competition winner Karlie Thomas, performing with the orchestra on saxophone in Darius Milhaud’s Scaramouche concerto. Composers represented are Grant Still, Piazzola, Barber, Villa-Lobos, Milhaud, Kernis, Bolcom, Paus, and Gould. Tickets from $34 - $65 for the Oct. 1 event are available at www.glcorchestra.org. The concert is free for veterans, active service members and students 18 and under by calling 231-487-0010.
