In this Harbor History Talk based around her book “Naajimiijimedaa! Let’s Find Food!” author Kathy Kae presents an introduction to foraging in Northern Michigan with bonus stories and recipes from members of the Burt Lake Band of Ottawa & Chippewa Indians. Kae will talk about the creation of her book and the history of Anishnaabe foraging as well as the cultural importance of creating and eating traditional foods.
As a special treat for those who attend the presentation, tribal elder Barb Richmond will accompany Kae and provide samples of corn soup and fry bread following the talk. Kae’s books will also be available for purchase at the event. The books are $35 and can be purchased in advance at the History Museum Store or on the night of the event.
