Coffee @ Ten with Detroit Society of Women Painters & Sculptors Join us for Coffee @ Ten with Jackie Rybinski, the current President of The Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors. Jackie collaborated with a gallery director at the Detroit Historical Museum and the librarians at the Detroit Public Library’s Burton Historical Collection, to create “Then and Now: The Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors 1903-2014” exhibition, held at the Detroit Historical Museum. This exhibit showcased the important connections between the DSWPS, its members, and their involvement with the art institutions of Detroit at the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibit included artifacts from the DSWPS archives, paintings by some of the founding members, vintage photographs, as well as the artwork of current members. Jackie is happy to share this important history of the DSWPS and the women who were involved in the making of Detroit’s art institutions. Jackie is a member of the Detroit Artists Market, The Scarab Club, Grosse Pointe Artists Association and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.
