GLCO presents Shackleton's Incredible Journey

Shackleton’s Incredible Journey is GLCO’s 2023 “Legends & Mysteries” educational concert, focusing on the leadership of Ernest Shackleton, one of the principal figures in the age of Antarctic exploration.  In this true survival story from 1914-1916, Shackleton leads the men of the Endurance voyage through almost two years of shipwreck (crushed by ice), camping on ice, and an incredibly perilous rescue mission, to survive against all odds.
 
Audiences are given an immersive musical experience as they watch the story unfold through live theater and original voyage film footage, with the GLCO orchestra performing 20^th century orchestral masterpieces representing the qualities of Shackleton’s leadership, including a sense of purpose, loyalty, optimism, ingenuity, and responsibility.
