The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI, is presenting a lecture examining the little-known cross-country journey of Alice Ramsey in 1909, the first woman to travel coast-to-coast in an automobile. We will learn about the geography that shaped her journey, as well as the technical and mechanical challenges she faced and overcame. In addition, the lecture will focus on the overlooked contributions of women in the history of the automobile, from Bertha Benz, to the “Damsels of Design,” to the many women designers of today. This presentation is free and open to the public.
