    About Us

The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society (HSAHS) was founded in 1990 by a group of concerned citizens committed to preserving the history of the Harbor Springs area. Soon after its founding, HSAHS achieved 501(c)(3) status as a charitable and educational non-profit organization.

Throughout its history, HSAHS has placed a high priority on protecting our past and maintaining a legacy for future generations. We believe that conserving our history has become even more important as the area continues to experience rapid growth and change.

This commitment continues today as HSAHS welcomes visitors to the Harbor Springs History Museum. The museum offers not only exhibits and displays celebrating our shared history but also an archives to protect a growing collection of historic photographs and artifacts, a genealogy center as well as a community space for lectures and programs on Harbor Springs' history.
