About Us

Char-Em United Way improves lives in lasting and impactful ways by mobilizing the caring power of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.
Char-Em United Way has been part of the community since 1943. It was created in 1995 as the merger of United Way of Emmet County, United Way of Charlevoix and East Jordan, and Boyne Area United Way. These were preceded by a number of local Community Chests.
United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income, and health. These are the building blocks for a good life-a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
