The 12th Annual Ride of Silence will start and finish at the Harbor Master Parking lot in downtown Harbor Springs, just east of the Pier Restaurant. The Ride of Silence is organized by Christopher Benson, who survived getting struck by a vehicle in 2007 while riding on an open road.
On May 15, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.
Join cyclists worldwide in a slient, slow-paced ride (max 12mph/20kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while riding on roadways.
The ride is free and open to anyone with a bicycle and a helmet (helmets are required). The ride course is approximately 8 miles in and around Harbor Springs. Riders are asked to arrive at the start by 6:30 p.m. for sign in, pre-ride instructions and staging.
