Exhibit Reception & History Talk

Join Beth Wemigwase, curator of the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society, for a reception and history talk about the society's newest special exhibit, "A Century in Focus: Harbor Springs, 1880–1980."

The reception begins at 2:00 pm and includes light refreshments. Visitors can drop in anytime between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm to view the exhibit.

At 4:00 pm the History Talk will begin upstairs at the History Museum and run until about 5:15 pm. Advanced registration appreciated. $15 per person.

The exhibit explores the evolution of photography from the late nineteenth century through the 1980s while highlighting the photographers who documented Harbor Springs and the surrounding area. Visitors will discover how photographs were created, collected, and shared, and how these images preserve the stories of local people, businesses, landscapes, and community events.

Featuring photographs, cameras, postcards and interactive displays, the exhibit examines both the technology and artistry of photography.

The History Talk, which follows the reception, will be a fully illustrated presentation that incorporates more details about specific photographers, such as Eri Babcock and Virgil Haynes, as well as other fun photographs and historical facts that were not able to fit into the exhibit.
