Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra - Violins of Hope Concert
VIOLINS OF HOPE
A story of resilience, hope, and the enduring power of music
This concert tells a powerful story of a violin recovered from a Nazi concentration camp.
Violins of Hope is an internationally recognized project led by Israeli luthier Amnon Weinstein and his son Avshi, dedicated to restoring violins that survived the Holocaust and bringing them back to the concert stages. Today, these violins travel the world not as symbols of tragedy, but as symbols of resilience, hope, and the enduring power of music.
The voice of one of these violins will come alive in our community, featuring Auerbach's T'filah (Prayer), Shostakovich-String Symphony, Schindler's List theme, and Balgley's Klezmer Concerto featuringMatheus Garcia Souza.
