History of the Mackinac Bridge
The "Mighty Mac" spans the Straits of Mackinac, an iconic feature of the northern Michigan landscape. Join the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society for this engaging presentation tracking the history and building of the Mackinac Bridge with Executive Secretary Kim Nowack. Kim's lecture will take place online via Zoom on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 7:00 pm. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.

Kimberly K. Nowack, P.E. - Kim received her Civil Engineering degree from Michigan Technological University in 1985. She immediately started her career with the Michigan Department of Transportation. In 2002, Kim accepted the position of Chief Engineer for the Mackinac Bridge Authority where she was responsible for all engineering and maintenance oversight of the bridge. She worked in this position for 17 years and was the first woman to hold this position. Kim was appointed to the position of Executive Secretary/CEO of the Mackinac Bridge in 2019 and is the first woman to hold this position in the Bridge Authority’s 60+ year history.Images
