    Crooked Tree Arts Center will provide up to three students with meaningful, hands-on experience in studio arts, events, marketing, and arts administration during the summer season. Interns will cultivate practical skills, establish valuable connections within the nonprofit arts community, and gain a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit operations.

    Through close collaboration with Crooked Tree staff, interns will explore diverse career pathways within the arts sector, strengthen professional confidence, and expand their knowledge of the regional arts and cultural landscape. This immersive experience offers broad exposure to multiple areas of arts management, equipping participants with foundational skills and insight for future careers in the field.

    Requirements: 

    • Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle at their disposal for the duration of the internship

    • The intern will pay for their own housing, food, and transportation

    • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds

    Schedule: Around 20 hours per week for 10-12 weeks, with some nights and weekends throughout the summer 

    Dates are flexible, but target dates are mid-May through mid-August

    Pay: $15 - $18 per hour, based on experience

    Visual Arts Studio Intern - CTAC Petoskey

    The Visual Arts Studio intern will assist with summer youth programs and studio maintenance. In addition to these regular tasks, the intern will also have the opportunity to shadow CTAC visual arts staff operations, including curatorial planning, exhibition installations, and classroom instruction. Additional opportunities may be added based on the intern's skill set and interests. Duties may include:

    Studio, Gallery & Education 

    • Assisting instructors with classroom preparation and instruction
    • Prepare and organize materials for class 
    • Maintain and clean studio spaces
    • Supervise students during snack time
    • Organize and inventory art supplies
    • Assist with inventory management and upkeep of gallery spaces

    Administrative

    • Assist with a variety of database management activities including data entry
    • Support essential administrative functions
    • Staff the front desk during office hours and some evening events.
    • Assist various CTAC departments with tasks as needed

    Skills Needed:  

    • Experience working with youth - preferred
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail  
    • Commitment to nonprofits and the mission of CTAC
    • Self-discipline and time-management skills needed to work independently  
    • Dependable and punctual team player  
    • Good verbal and written communication skills  
    • Ability to work with the public in a professional manner
